Many of these valleys and mountainous stretches of Himachal are the most favoured destinations for adventure treks and hikes. Trekking, rafting, paragliding, name it, this beautiful town of Manali is the locale from where adventurers set foot on their travel and trail.
The Hampta Pass trek begins in Manali. This adventure trail to Hampta pass from Manali is exciting as it leads to enthralling meadows and green valleys. This trek across the river Rani, further leads to Chika, Balu ka Ghera, and Shea Gahru, through a stretch of tall forests of oak and alpine offering a totally spectacular view of the valley. These valleys are also home to abundant flora, speckled with colorful orchids and sprawling mountainous slopes of Himalayan cedar. The trek to Hampta pass, takes an idyllic route, through the placid and shimmering waters of the ‘Chandrataal’ lake, which is indeed a traveler’s delight. The trek from Manali to Hampta pass is rated easy to moderate on the difficulty scale and is recommended for most beginners and experienced trekkers, alike. This trek promises a thrilling and rousing adventure, spanning over 5 days. The most favorable time of the year, for the Hampta trek, are, the months of May, June, July and from September through to October.

Day 1:- Reach Manali, Report at Rohtang Bridge for a briefing at 11.00 A.M.
Drive from Manali (6,726ft) to Jobra (9800ft), Trek from Jobra to Chika (11,100ft/2-3 hours).
Day 2:- Trek from Chika (11,100ft) to Balu ka Ghera (12,411ft/4-5 hours).
Day 3:- Trek from Balu ka Ghera (12,411ft) via Hampta Pass(12,254ft) to Shea Goru (14,035ft/ 6-7 hours).
Day 4 :- Trek from Shea Goru (14,035ft) to Chatru (10,898ft/3-4 hours), and drive to Chandratal Lake (14,100ft) and back to Chatru (10,898ft/3-4 hours).
Day 5:- Drive from Chatru (10,898ft) to Manali (6,726ft/ 7-8 hours).

Moderate treks require more stamina to withstand weather and walk through different terrains. It is advisable to complete an easy trek before going for a moderate trek. Follow the exercise schedule and make sure you are fit by the end of fifth week. If you can run 5 kilometres within 30 minutes and follow flexibility exercises, you are fit for a moderate trek. If you already hit the gym, you can skip repetitive exercises. Running on the road is better than running on a treadmill.

The nearest airport for Manali is Bhuntar, 50 km (Approx.) from Manali. Air India & Air Himalayas (9
Seater Non-Scheduled Flight) are having flights for Kullu. Air India having flights to Kullu from Delhi
Airport & Air Himalayas operates flights from Chandigarh Airport.
How to reach by Train?
The two nearest Railway Station for Manali are at Chandigarh (350 km.) and Ambala (360 km).
Onwards Journey can be traveled either by Chartered Taxis, Buses or by Air as Himalayan Bulls a
private 8 seater charter is available between Chandigarh & Kullu.
How to reach by Road?
You can also reach Manali by road. There are many Volvo buses running from Delhi and Chandigarh
daily. Delhi to Manali buses is available from RK Ashram Marg as well as ISBT Kashmiri gate. Chandigarh
to Manali Buses is available from Sector 43 Bus Stand.
1) What is the type of accommodation provided in this trek and is it comfortable?
All accommodation for trekkers will be in tents on triple sharing basis. Each trekker will be given a sleeping bag and will share tents with fellow trekkers which can withstand temperatures upto -10 degrees Celsius. We also have the option for double sharing/ single sharing tents if they are not comfortable in sharing it with others but at an extra cost.
2) Which are the best seasons for the Hampta Pass trek?
June to October are the best months to go on this trek.
3) What will the temperature be like during the months of June and October?
Day temperatures in June/July at Hampta Pass go up to an average of 13°C -18°C. It may fall to 0°C and -5°C at nightfall. Temperatures in September and October will be slightly lower.
4) Will I find snow on this trek?
You will find snow on different parts of trail till early July. Once it rains, the snow melts away hence you’re unlikely to find it later in the season.
5) At what time should we reach Manali?
The trek will start at 10am from Manali bus stand. Please be on time as it is a group departure and we will start sharp on time. In case you are late you will have to take your own transport Jobra.
6) What happens if it rains during the trek?
Carry a poncho with you and during rain we continue as scheduled using the poncho and backpack cover to protect you from the rain. The tents that you will be staying in, the dining tent, kitchen and toilet tents are all water proof, so you will stay dry inside.
7) How will we get back to Manali?
Chatru will be your last campsite. From here, we will arrange for a vehicle to drop trekkers back to Manali. You can expect to reach Manali by 5.00 PM. The cost of transport from Prini to Jobra and Chatru to Manali is included in your trek fee.
8) Will ponchos and other equipment be available for rent?
We will provide you with ponchos and trekking poles on rent from Manali. The cost will be INR 50 per person for each item.
9) Is this a good trek for a first timer?
The Hampta Pass trek is moderately difficult. Beginners can attempt this trek provided they stick to the fitness schedule and meet the health requirements.
10) If not the Hampta Pass trek, what is a good alternative trek from Manali?
There is a treks like Bhrigu lake and Chandrakhani pass trek from Manali which are great alternative to Hampta Pass trek.
11) Is there an option to offload my backpack on this trek?
Offloading your backpack will cost INR.1000 + 5% GST if you inform us in advance. If you decide to offload once you reach Jobra, the amount will be Rs.350 per day inclusive of tax. The offloaded bag should not weigh more than 10 kg. Strolleys, duffel bags, suitcases etc. are not allowed.
12) Can I take my child along on this trek? What is the age limit?
Hampta Pass is a moderately difficult trek and requires a certain level of fitness. The minimum age for eligibility is 14 years. You can take your child along if s/he meets these requirements.
14) What if i won't be available reach manali by 11.am ?
If anybody doesn’t reach Manali at 11.am, he/she would have to reach Jobra at their own expense.
15) We are group of women & we want to go to this trek, is it safe?
Women safety is utmost priority. Our support staff & other crew members always strive to make the trek safe & secure.

17) What if there are some unexpected weather changes?
if there are some weather changes like heavy rain or so,we postpone or provide you an alternate trek as your safety is our priority but the treks are possible if the weather changes are moderate in nature
1.Please note that if you leave the trek mid way or want to return at any point during the trek all costs involved will be borne solely by the trekker ie Transport/ guide etc
2.If found with alcohol or any kind of narcotic drugs during the trek, the person will be suspended from the trek immediately.
3.In case of cancellation of trek due to any natural calamities or any unforeseen circumstances you will receive an option to do a different trek or activity.
4.Trekkers must reach the pick up point on time specified for the trek. If you are late all transport/transfer will be Borne by the trekker.
5.No refund will be made if you do not use any of the services provided.
6.You are solely responsible for your belongings during the trek. Adventurescape will not be responsible for any loss or damage of baggage, goods, or items during the trek.
7.We use high quality equipment for our treks and any damage or loss due to your negligence will be borne by the trekker at fault.
8.We also provide additional transfers/transportation and third party activities in addition to the trek. Adventurescape or any team member is not liable for any claims arising out of this. It will be solely the responsibility of the vendor of the activity.
9.All instructions given by the trek leader/guide during the trek will be final and abiding. All instructions should be taken seriously throughout the trek as it will be final and abiding for all trekkers.
